Major Crackdown on Illicit Liquor in Mahasamund

30 Liters of Country Liquor Seized, Two Arrested

Raipur : In a major action against the illegal transportation and sale of liquor, the Excise Department carried out a raid in the Basna region of Mahasamund district today. As part of an ongoing intensive campaign, two individuals were arrested, and 30 liters of illicit country-made liquor along with a scooter were seized.

According to available information, Suraj Barik, a resident of Akhrabhatha Tukda village, was found in possession of 30 bulk liters of country liquor and a TVS Jupiter scooter used for transportation, valued at ₹1,06,000. Chandramani Miri, a resident of Beldihi Pathar village, was caught with 15 bulk liters of country liquor worth ₹3,000. Cases have been registered against both individuals under Sections 34(2), 46(1), and 46(2) of the Chhattisgarh Excise Act, and an investigation is underway.

The residents of Beldihi Pathar village provided commendable support during the operation. The success of this raid was largely due to the efforts of Excise Circle Basna in-charge Shri Darsaram Soni, Sakra Circle in-charge Sub-Inspector Shri H.K. Tripude, Pithora Circle in-charge Shri Mirza Zafar Baig, and Head Constable Raj Kishore Pandey.

The Excise Department has clarified that the campaign against illegal liquor trade in the district will continue with full intensity.
