NDRF and SDRF Teams on Alert for Emergency Response Amid Heavy Rainfall in MaharashtraSindhudurg Records Highest Rainfall at 70.3 mm

Mumbai – In anticipation of heavy rains and possible flood-like situations, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been instructed to remain on high alert for emergency operations. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre, Sindhudurg district recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours (till the morning of June 14), receiving 70.3 mm of rain.

Rainfall data for other regions during the same period includes: Ratnagiri – 45 mm, Mumbai city – 25.4 mm, Pune – 23.8 mm, and Raigad – 20 mm.

The district-wise average rainfall recorded till the morning of June 14, 2025, is as follows (in millimetres): Thane – 3.4, Raigad – 20, Ratnagiri – 45, Sindhudurg – 70.8, Palghar – 0.2, Nashik – 10.5, Dhule – 2.2, Nandurbar – 4.6, Jalgaon – 4.8, Ahilyanagar – 5.5, Pune – 23.8, Solapur – 5.9, Satara – 8.8, Sangli – 2.6, Kolhapur – 7, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar – 16.7, Jalna – 7.8, Beed – 7.6, Latur – 2, Dharashiv – 9.5, Nanded – 0.6, Parbhani – 0.7, Hingoli – 0.8, Buldhana – 2.7, Akola – 3, Washim – 1.8, Amravati – 0.6, Yavatmal – 0.8, Nagpur – 2.4, Bhandara – 3.4, Gondia – 1.1, Chandrapur – 0.4, and Gadchiroli – 0.2.

NDRF, SDRF Teams Deployed at Dehu and Alandi on Indrayani River

Given the large gatherings of devotees at the Indrayani river during the Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage, precautionary measures have been implemented. One SDRF team has been deployed at Dehu, while an NDRF team is stationed at Alandi.

Casualties Reported

Lightning strikes in Ahilyanagar district killed two animals, while one animal died in Nashik district due to a lightning strike. Pune district reported one human fatality from a lightning strike, and one person died in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after a wall collapse.

Flooding in Rajapur Village, Ratnagiri

Heavy rainfall in Adivare village of Rajapur (Ratnagiri district) caused flood-like conditions with water flowing over a bridge. The local administration halted traffic and advised residents to stay alert.

Smoke Incident in Thane MIDC

In Thane district’s Turbhe MIDC area, 28 people were affected by generator smoke. Of these, 26 have been discharged from the hospital, while two remain under medical care, as per the State Emergency Operations Centre.
