Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Inaugurates Pune City Police’s ‘PTP TrafficCop App’

Pune – In a move to enhance coordination between citizens and the traffic department, ensure two-way communication during varying traffic situations, and provide real-time traffic updates to commuters in Pune, Deputy Chief Minister and District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar inaugurated the ‘PTP TrafficCop App’ developed by the Pune City Police Commissionerate.

The inauguration ceremony took place during a meeting held at the Vidhan Bhavan in Pune. Present at the event were Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Kolhapur Range Special IG Sunil Phulari, Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, and other senior officials.

The app was developed under the concept and guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. Additional Police Commissioner (East Region) Manoj Patil presented a video demonstration explaining the app’s features.

Pune residents often face major urban challenges such as traffic congestion, related accidents, and pollution. One key reason is the lack of effective action against traffic rule violators. To address this, the Pune Police, under the guidance of Joint CP Ranjankumar Sharma, Addl. CP Patil, and DCP (Traffic) Amol Zende, collaborated with private software engineers to develop this app, aimed at empowering citizens and bringing discipline to traffic.

Through this app, citizens can upload photos of traffic violations such as:

  • Parking on footpaths
  • Driving on pedestrian paths
  • Violation of heavy vehicle restrictions
  • Using a mobile phone while driving
  • Triple riding
  • Use of black film on windows
  • Fancy number plates
  • Driving in the wrong direction or entering ‘no-entry’ zones

In addition, under the “Report Incident” feature, users can notify traffic police about:

  • Accidents causing traffic jams
  • Vehicle breakdowns
  • Potholes
  • Oil spills on roads
  • Waterlogging
  • Fallen trees
  • Abandoned vehicles

All complaints will be directed to the Traffic Control Room. The privacy of citizens who upload photos or lodge complaints will be strictly protected and maintained.

Information Submission Guidelines:
When reporting a traffic violation, the user must upload a clear photo or video showing the violation, with the vehicle’s number plate clearly visible. Similarly, when reporting traffic obstructions, photos or videos must be accompanied by detailed and accurate descriptions in the designated tab.

Complaints submitted through the app will be verified within 48 hours. If found valid, an online challan will be issued to the violator by the traffic police.

Upon receiving obstruction reports, the Traffic Control Room will promptly notify the concerned traffic department officials or relevant local bodies to resolve the issue on priority, ensuring smooth traffic flow in the city.

The traffic police have appealed to the public to follow traffic rules, as enforcement and penalties will be strictly implemented based on the information received through this digital platform.
