CM Dr. Yadav Congratulates Police for Success in Anti-Naxal Operation in Balaghat

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has congratulated the Madhya Pradesh Police force for their successful anti-Naxal operation in Balaghat district, in which four Naxals were neutralized. He praised the bravery and commitment of the police personnel and reaffirmed the state government’s determination to eliminate Naxalism from Madhya Pradesh by March 2026, under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah.

CM Dr. Yadav emphasized that the state government is rewarding police officers actively participating in anti-Naxal operations. He recalled a recent event in Balaghat where personnel who led successful missions against Naxals were honored and promoted. The Chief Minister shared these remarks from Pachmarhi on Saturday.

Heavy Weapons Recovered from Naxals

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has lauded the courage and alertness of security personnel following a successful anti-Naxal operation in Balaghat district, the only Naxal-affected district in Madhya Pradesh. Four Naxals, including three women, were neutralized in a fierce encounter on Saturday. A significant cache of weapons, including several automatic firearms, a grenade launcher, an SLR rifle, two .315 rifles, a rocket launcher, walkie-talkie sets, Naxal literature, and large quantities of ammunition, was recovered from them.

CM Dr. Yadav emphasised that the swift and proactive action by police personnel prevented a potential major incident. “The state police are carrying out this mission with determination. Naxals must surrender, or they will be eliminated. Their activities continue to endanger our tribal communities,” he said, congratulating the police for the successful operation.

The encounter took place based on intelligence inputs about Naxal presence in the Pachamadadar-Katejhiria forest area under GRB division in the jurisdiction of Roopjhar police station and Sonewani outpost. Acting on this, Hawk Force, district police, and CRPF launched a coordinated cordon and search operation from the night of June 13–14. During the operation, Naxals opened indiscriminate fire intending to harm security forces and loot their weapons. In a measured and tactical response, security personnel returned fire and killed four hardcore Maoists.

Some Naxals are believed to have been injured and are on the run. A massive search operation is currently underway by CRPF, Hawk Force, and district police to locate them. So far in 2025, ten hardcore Maoists have been killed in encounters in Madhya Pradesh — the highest annual figure in recent years. In comparison, six Naxals were eliminated in 2022.
