Minister of State for Public Works Promotes Water Conservation and Environmental Protection Through Plantation and Cleaning of Water Sources

On Monday, Dr. Manju Baghmar, Minister of State for Public Works, and Shri Sandeep Verma, District In-charge Secretary, planted Peepal saplings at Lavkush Vatika in Chauth Ka Barwara, Sawai Madhopur district, to convey a strong message of environmental conservation.

The Minister administered the pledge of water conservation to officials, public representatives, and citizens present at the event, and distributed Tulsi medicinal plants to women.

Dr. Baghmar highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Jan Abhiyan is being carried out from 5th to 20th June. As part of this campaign, traditional water structures such as wells, stepwells, anicuts, and ponds are being cleaned before the onset of monsoon to improve rainwater harvesting and raise groundwater levels. She emphasized that rainwater conservation, similar to practices in Western Rajasthan, should be implemented here as well. Government and private institutions should adopt rainwater harvesting systems, and traditional water bodies should be revered like the Ganga — worshipped and kept clean through collective efforts.

She also encouraged people to participate in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘One Tree for Mother’ campaign, urging everyone to plant at least one tree and take responsibility for its care. She called for increased awareness on using cloth bags instead of banned plastic carry bags to reduce environmental pollution.

District Collector Shri Shubham Chaudhary stressed the precious value of water, warning that neglecting its importance now would lead to severe challenges for future generations. He urged citizens to build water conservation structures to retain water at the village level and plant more trees for environmental sustainability.

Worship and Voluntary Labor at Water Bodies

Dr. Manju Baghmar, along with local representatives and officials, participated in a water worship ceremony at the Chauth Mata Sarovar in Chauth Ka Barwara. They also engaged in voluntary cleaning at the site, setting an example for public hygiene and environmental responsibility.

Review Meeting on Vande Ganga Water Conservation Campaign Implementation

Later, at the Panchayat Samiti auditorium in Chauth Ka Barwara, the Minister chaired a review meeting on the implementation of the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Campaign. She assessed the progress of activities conducted under the campaign and instructed department heads to take collective action and ensure the movement becomes a mass public initiative.

Dr. Baghmar directed Agriculture Joint Director Shri Rakesh Kumar Atal and Horticulture Deputy Director Dr. Hemraj Meena to promote various government schemes to double farmers’ income, and reach out to as many beneficiaries as possible. She further stressed that every farmer should be connected with the micro-irrigation (drip irrigation) scheme to conserve water at the grassroots level.
