Yogi govt intensifies crackdown on illegal encroachments near Nepal border

Lucknow : The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh continues its decisive action against illegal encroachments and unauthorized religious institutions in districts bordering Nepal. Acting on the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a special drive is underway, with operations in Shravasti extending late into Wednesday evening. As part of the campaign, five unrecognized and illegally constructed madrasas were demolished. Additionally, a mazaar found partially occupying government land was also removed.

This campaign is part of the government’s sustained efforts to reclaim valuable borderland from illegal occupation. Shravasti District Magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi informed that action has been taken against Madrasa Islamia Arabia Awarul Uloom Bangai and Akara for encroaching on government land under Gata numbers 1039/0 (670 hectares) and 1041/0 (162 hectares) in Fatehpur Bangaie village. The demolition was carried out following an eviction order issued by the Tehsildar of Jamunha on May 28. A mazaar partially built on government land at the site was also demolished.

Furthermore, the illegal structures of Madrasa Gausia Tajul Uloom and Madrasa Gausia Faizane Raza Shamshul, which were built on government-owned land (Gata numbers 556 and 394, respectively) in Rampur Basti and Nagaigaon, were voluntarily removed. On Thursday, the administration also demolished Madrasa Ashrafia Israel Umul, located on compost pit land (Gata number 884) in Bagbhari Da village, Begumpur, and Madrasa Gausia Ziaul Quran, built on barn land (Gata number 73) in Hasanpur Da, Begumpur under Jamunha tehsil.

The Yogi government has made it clear that illegal encroachments and unauthorized religious or educational activities will not be tolerated within a 10 km radius of the Nepal border. The administration has been instructed to swiftly remove identified encroachments and maintain regular monitoring to ensure compliance.
