Phuleshwar’s Dream of a Concrete Home Comes True Under PM Janman Yojana

Raipur : The Prime Minister Janman Yojana has proven to be a life-changing blessing for members of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). Through this scheme, welfare initiatives of the government are reaching tribal communities like the Kamar tribe in remote forested areas of Dhamtari district.

One such beneficiary is Mr. Phuleshwar Kamar from Kallemeta village in the Nagri region. A member of the Kamar community, Phuleshwar had long dreamt of owning a pucca (permanent) house — a dream that has finally become a reality, thanks to the Janman Yojana.

Speaking joyfully after the completion of his home, Phuleshwar said the scheme had transformed both his life’s condition and direction. Under the 2023–24 allocation of the scheme, he received approval for housing. Once the required documentation was completed at the panchayat level, construction began.

With the first installment of ₹40,000, he began building his house with technical guidance. As the construction progressed, he received successive installments of ₹60,000, ₹80,000, and ₹20,000 based on completion milestones. This step-by-step support allowed his dream home to be built successfully.

Phuleshwar also shared that he was paid wages for 90 days under the MGNREGA scheme for his work during the house construction.

Recalling his earlier struggles, Phuleshwar explained that he worked as a mason and supported his family through daily labor. They used to live in a fragile mud hut that was barely habitable — leaky roofs during monsoons, damp walls, freezing cold during winter nights, and constant fear of snakes, scorpions, and other dangerous insects.

Now, with a sturdy concrete home, those hardships are a thing of the past. Phuleshwar and his family sleep peacefully under a secure roof. The new house has also brought them greater dignity and social recognition within the community. The family now lives together happily and safely.

Phuleshwar also highlighted that his family is benefiting from several other government welfare schemes. Under the Mahtari Vandana Yojana, his wife receives ₹1,000 monthly. They are also availing benefits from MGNREGA work, tendu leaf collection, Ayushman Health Card, and ration card schemes, all of which have improved their family income and quality of life.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Phuleshwar thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for helping realize the dream of owning a permanent home for families like his from PVTG communities.
