“Vande Ganga” Water Conservation Public Campaign: Medical Education Department Staff Conduct Shramdaan at Galta Ji, Restoring the Water Reservoir’s Glory
Under the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, the “Vande Ganga” Water Conservation Public Campaign witnessed an impactful event organized by the Medical Education Department on Thursday at the Galta Ji temple complex. The event focused on water conservation and cleanliness.
The program commenced with the worship and offering rituals at natural water sources. Led by Medical Education Secretary Shri Ambrish Kumar, senior officials including Additional Directors Shri Mukesh Meena, Shri Chanchal Verma, and Shri Naresh Goyal, along with departmental staff, actively participated in a shramdaan (voluntary labor) drive.
In the early morning hours, employees and officers formed a human chain and enthusiastically cleaned the highest water reservoir by removing accumulated mud and waste, revealing the pristine beauty of the water kund (reservoir). The effort significantly improved the water quality and aesthetic of the sacred site.
To further reinforce the message of environmental protection, tree plantation was carried out under the “One Tree in Mother’s Name” initiative. During this activity, all officials and staff took a pledge to contribute towards environmental conservation.
The department’s personnel also cleaned nearby water sources in the Galta Ji area. The cleanliness campaign saw active participation from doctors, students, and staff of the Medical Education Department, SMS Medical College, RUHS Medical College, and local volunteers.
Speaking at the event, Secretary Shri Ambrish Kumar emphasized, “Clean water is the foundation of healthy life.” He added that the state government launched the Vande Ganga campaign with the objective of encouraging mass awareness and participation in water conservation. The campaign aims to revive traditional water sources and instill a deep sense of responsibility for water preservation among the public.
