“Enhance Quality of Patient Care at ESIC Hospital” – Guardian Minister Prakash Abitkar
Kolhapur : State Public Health and Family Welfare Minister and Guardian Minister Prakash Abitkar visited the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital at Tarabai Park today to assess the quality of patient services. During his visit, he interacted with patients, inquired about their health, and examined the hospital’s facilities in detail. Emphasizing the need to improve the quality of care, he instructed officials to make healthcare services more efficient and patient-focused.
Minister Abitkar directed concerned authorities to coordinate between the central and state governments to ensure that the hospital offers top-quality medical services not only to Kolhapur residents but also to patients from across western Maharashtra. He also called for an early meeting with senior officials to review and plan further improvements. He stressed the importance of streamlining medical services, increasing staff efficiency, and ensuring that all patients receive timely and quality treatment.
While reviewing existing facilities, the Minister discussed the supply of medicines, cleanliness, availability of diagnostic equipment, and the provision of medical consultations. He instructed the hospital administration to establish a mechanism to address patient grievances promptly. He also emphasized the need to ensure that insured workers and their families receive care without facing any difficulties.
Hospital officials briefed the Minister on the current facilities and challenges, stating that consistent efforts are being made to improve service quality. They assured that, as per the Minister’s directions, they would meet with senior officers to implement concrete improvements. The availability of specialist doctors, diagnostic units, beds, and emergency services was also reviewed during the visit.
Speaking with hospital staff, Minister Abitkar encouraged them, saying, “You all are playing a vital role in society through patient care. Your dedication supports many families. Continue to work with the same commitment.” He also urged that cleanliness and the quality of food served to patients be maintained at high standards.
The visit was attended by the hospital’s medical superintendent, senior doctors, administrative officers, and staff. Patients and their relatives expressed hope that the Minister’s visit would soon lead to noticeable improvements. As a key medical center for insured workers, improvements at the ESIC hospital are expected to benefit thousands of families.
