When Hope Began to Fade… The Chief Minister Became a Pillar of Strength: CM’s Support Became the Ladder to Shalu’s Dreams
CM Vishnu Deo Sai Extends Warm Wishes and Financial Aid to International Softball Player Shalu Dahariya
Raipur : “When hope started to waver, the Chief Minister became the support system,” perfectly describes the uplifting moment for Shalu Dahariya, an international softball player from Chhattisgarh. A smile of joy lit up her face when Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai personally video-called her to not only extend his best wishes but also to provide crucial financial assistance to help fulfill her dreams.

Shalu has been selected to represent India at the Asia Youth Softball Championship, scheduled to take place from July 14 to 20, 2025, in Xi’an, China. Out of the entire Chhattisgarh state, only two female players have been selected for this prestigious open tournament, and Shalu is one of them. However, the participation fee of ₹1.70 lakh for the international event became a major obstacle for her.
Coming from a modest financial background, Shalu’s father works as a private security guard, while her mother runs a small beauty parlor. Despite these financial constraints, Shalu began playing softball in the 8th grade and has since represented Chhattisgarh 12 times at the national level, including winning one gold medal.
During the video call, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai encouraged her, saying,
“Daughter, move forward… we are all with you. Chhattisgarh is proud of you. Play well. My best wishes are always with you. Make your state and country proud.”
He further assured that the state government not only encourages daughters but is always ready to support them when needed to help their dreams take flight.
In a swift response to the Chief Minister’s directive, Janjgir-Champa Collector Mr. Janmejay Mahobe handed over a cheque of ₹1.70 lakh to Shalu as financial aid and wished her success in the competition.
Shalu’s mother, Mrs. Alka Dahariya, expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying,
“Thanks to the Chief Minister’s sensitive gesture and financial help, my daughter now has the golden opportunity to participate in an international competition.”
This act of compassion from CM Vishnu Deo Sai is a shining example of leadership that goes beyond policy announcements — it demonstrates a government that stands beside its people when they need it the most. The initiative also reinforces the state’s unwavering commitment to empowering daughters and helping them realize their dreams.
