Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Attends Youth Workers’ Conference of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh as Chief Guest
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami participated as the Chief Guest at the Youth Workers’ Conference organized by the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Uttarakhand, held at the Rishikul Ayurvedic College Auditorium.
On Sunday, Chief Minister Dhami also took part as Chief Guest in the valedictory ceremony marking the completion of 70 years of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the need to establish a major center at the Rishikul institution, dedicated to tourism, spirituality, education, Ayurveda, astrology, and meditation. He announced the formation of the Madan Mohan Malaviya State Research Institute on the premises, which will offer study and research in yoga, meditation, spirituality, and related fields, thereby boosting spiritual tourism.
The Chief Minister praised the growth of the BMS, stating that although the organization faced several challenges in its early days, it has grown into a strong and expansive body. On July 23, 2025, BMS will complete 70 years since its founding. Throughout this journey, the organization has worked with a commitment to nation-building, indigenous ideology, and labor welfare, significantly contributing to the cultural and economic framework of India. He said the organization has paved the way for transforming laborers from “Shram Yogis” to “Rashtra Yogis.”
CM Dhami noted that in post-independence India, despite the scarcity of resources, laborers played a crucial and incredible role in building the nation. Unlike the past, India now possesses abundant resources. He recalled that labor movements seven decades ago were often influenced by foreign ideologies and lacked a Swadeshi outlook. During those times, even raising slogans like Vande Mataram or Bharat Mata Ki Jai would create tense situations.
He highlighted that today, the BMS is a large organization working for labor welfare and has introduced new ideological frameworks for workers, students, and youth. The government, he added, is implementing many schemes for the benefit of workers, ensuring that even those at the grassroots level reap their benefits. The national labor portal has registered millions of workers, who are also being provided with ESIC, EPFO, and insurance benefits.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the guiding principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas for numerous welfare initiatives. These include educational and healthcare assistance for workers’ children, and providing mobile devices to help bridge the digital divide. Notably, 75 meritorious children of laborers are receiving free higher technical education at Rudrapur Technical Institute, including accommodation, food, and tuition.
CM Dhami emphasized that laborers are not only pillars of physical labor but also architects of national development. As India works toward becoming a developed nation by 2047, the youth will play a vital role. With 65% of the population under the age of 35, India is the youngest country in the world. If properly guided, this demographic energy can help India emerge as a global superpower.
He noted that for the first time, a dedicated Skill India Department was formed under the PM’s vision to connect youth with employment and promote self-reliance. Under Modi’s leadership, efforts to revive India’s cultural heritage are also underway, including the construction of the Ram Temple, the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, the Badrinath Master Plan, and the massive reconstruction of Kedarnath after the 2013 disaster — all executed efficiently by dedicated laborers.
The CM stated that the ongoing Char Dham Yatra has seen unprecedented footfall, with over 1.2 million pilgrims visiting Kedarnath in just 51 days and a combined total of over 3.3 million visiting the four shrines.
He added that today, the world looks toward India for its stance whenever a global terrorist incident occurs. Unlike before, India now responds strongly, as demonstrated in Operation Sindoor, where Indian forces decisively neutralized terrorist bases inside enemy territory, forcing Pakistan to surrender in just four days.
Domestically, the government is tackling issues like land jihad, love jihad, and spit jihad with firmness. The CM noted that illegal occupation of land under various pretexts had been rampant, but the government has reclaimed 6,500 acres and demolished illegal structures.
CM Dhami said that when they travel abroad and introduce themselves as being from Uttarakhand, people’s faces light up with respect for “Devbhoomi.” He asserted that no one can tamper with the divine identity of Uttarakhand.
Recalling the violence in Haldwani’s Banbhoolpura, he said the government has introduced a strong anti-riot law. He also mentioned that earlier, deserving youth could not clear competitive exams despite years of preparation, but the new anti-cheating law has ensured merit-based selection, allowing many to now succeed in multiple exams.
Under the zero-tolerance policy, any government officer or employee neglecting duties or public welfare will not be spared. Not just small offenders but even top officials (“big crocodiles”) are now being held accountable. Since 2022, more than 200 officials have faced disciplinary action for dereliction of duty.
The Chief Minister said the state’s development journey is a collective effort, and the people have entrusted him with its leadership. Uttarakhand is now leading in many areas and has set a unique example in governance. In 2022, the government pledged to bring the Uniform Civil Code for women’s empowerment, which has now been enacted across the state, making Uttarakhand the first Indian state to do so.
He concluded by reaffirming that there is no alternative to their resolve. Present at the event were MLAs Pradeep Batra and Adesh Chauhan, Mayor Kiran Jesal, All India BMS General Secretary Ravindra Mitre, State President Umesh Joshi, Regional Organization Minister Anupam, State Union General Secretary Sumit Singhal, BJP District President Ashutosh Sharma, Love Sharma, Ashu Chaudhary, former district president Shobha Ram Prajapati, DM Mayur Dikshit, SSP Pramendra Dobal, and other officials.
