New Russian ice-capable crabber/trawler hits the water.
Vostochnaya Verf, a company under Russia’s state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation, launched a new crab fishing vessel Aurum into the water at its Vladivostok facilities on Friday, June 20. The vessel belongs to the Project 03141 series of crab fishing vessels that are also capable of shrimp trawling and that may be configured to undertake longline fishing if needed. It is in accordance with the Ice2 notation of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

After the completion, the vessel has an LOA of 63.27 metres, a beam of 10.6 metres, a depth of 4.6 metres, a draught of four metres, a gross tonnage of 1,048, and accommodation for 21 crewmembers.
A diesel engine with a rated output of over 1,618 kW at 310 rpm drives a controllable-pitch propeller via a Hitachi NICO HLTPY1150 gearbox to deliver a speed of 14 knots and an endurance of 45 days.
The fishing equipment will consist of two 0.95-tonne cranes for lifting pots out of the water and offloading at port. Catch will be stored in 15 RSW tanks with a total capacity of 346 cubic metres of seawater maintained at temperatures of between zero and two degrees Celsius. The vessel will also feature a desalination plant that can produce up to three cubic metres of freshwater per day.
The vessel’s electrical power plant includes a Taiyo FEK 540XL-6 400kW shaft alternator and two Yanmar 6N165L-EW 441kW generators.
