Special Buses Announced for the Thiruchendur Temple Kumbhabhishekam Festival from July 4 to 8, 2025 – Tamil Nadu Government Ensures Devotee Convenience

As per the directive of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, special bus arrangements have been made in view of the upcoming Kumbhabhishekam Festival of Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple in Thiruchendur, Thoothukudi District, scheduled for July 7, 2025.

Hon’ble Minister for Transport and Electricity Mr. S.S. Sivasankar has announced that to facilitate the travel of devotees, special bus services will be operated from July 4 (afternoon) to July 8 (afternoon), 2025.

It is estimated that 3 to 5 lakh devotees from various parts of Tamil Nadu will travel to Thiruchendur during this festive period. In order to handle this influx, 400 special buses will operate between Thiruchendur and areas including Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Nagercoil, Madurai, and surrounding regions during these dates.

Additionally, three temporary bus stations have been set up to manage passenger movement efficiently:

• Kumarapuram near Tirunelveli
• Sathankulam near Nagercoil
• ITI campus near Thoothukudi

From these locations, 30 free shuttle buses will operate to transport devotees to the entrance of the Thiruchendur temple.

To further assist pilgrims from other parts of the state, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations will also run additional special buses daily from Chennai, Trichy, Kumbakonam, Karaikudi, Pudukkottai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, and Tiruppur to Thiruchendur during the festival period.

Since heavy passenger traffic is expected on July 6, 7, and 8, pilgrims planning to travel from across the state to Thiruchendur are strongly advised to book their tickets in advance to avoid overcrowding. Bookings can be made online via the official TNSTC portal: https://www.tnstc.in or the TNSTC Mobile App.

To ensure smooth operation of these special services, transport officials will be deployed at major bus terminals across the state.

The public is requested to make use of these special arrangements and travel safely and conveniently during this sacred festival.
