CM Dr. Yadav Inaugurates India’s First Community Mediation Centre

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that mediation is the need of the hour as it revives India’s ancient wisdom in a modern and innovative way, fostering a harmonious and empathetic environment in society. He was speaking at the inauguration of India’s first Community Mediation Centre located at Police Commissionerate Office in Indore.

CM Dr. Yadav emphasized that mediation not only resolves disputes but also strengthens mutual trust within society. He announced that the adhya Pradesh Government will work to take the concept of mediation to the village level to foster peace and harmony even in rural areas. Stressing the importance of strong family relationships for a well-functioning social fabric, he congratulated the Indore Police Commissionerate, District Administration, and Legal Services Authority for implementing a commendable and replicable model.

The newly constructed Community Mediation Centre at the Police Commissioner’s Office in Palasia, Indore, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Yadav in the esteemed presence of Acting Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court and Executive Chairman of the State Legal Services Authority Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, and Administrative Judge of the Indore Bench and Chairman of the High Court Mediation Committee Justice Vivek Rusia.

Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat, MP Shri Shankar Lalwani, High Court Judges, Divisional Commissioner Shri Deepak Singh, Police Commissioner Shri Santosh Kumar Singh, Collector Shri Ashish Singh, and mediators from Indore were also present.

Mediation Strengthens Human Bonds Alongside Conflict Resolution

Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva remarked that mediation not only facilitates compromise in disputes but also strengthens human relationships. He noted that while Western countries refer to this as “mediation,” India has a longstanding tradition of resolving conflicts through community elders like panch and sarpanch.

Indore Leads in Mediation: More Then 5,000 Cases Resolved

Justice Vivek Rusia shared that Indore is the only city in India where mediation centres have been established in both the Collectorate and Commissionerate offices. Currently, 22 mediation centres operate in the city, where 125 mediators from 27 social groups have successfully resolved over 5,000 cases. The centre at the Commissionerate had been operating on a trial basis for the last four months, and following its success, was formally inaugurated today.

CM Presented with Memento

At the conclusion of the event, Police Commissioner Shri Santosh Kumar Singh presented a memento to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav as a token of appreciation.
