Food & Civil Supplies Minister Shri Sumit Godara Reviews Departmental Schemes, Urges Eligible Individuals to Voluntarily “Give Up” PDS Benefits
Jaipur : On Thursday, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Shri Sumit Godara chaired a review meeting at the Alwar District Council Auditorium, instructing department officials on enrolling new beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the ongoing “Give Up” campaign, Aadhaar seeding for newly added beneficiaries, and completion of e-KYC.
Reviewing the “Give Up” campaign’s progress in the district, the Minister noted that 63,000 individuals have already surrendered their ration cards voluntarily. He directed officers to intensify monitoring so that by 31 August, an additional 46,000 eligible persons come forward to give up their NFSA entitlement—ensuring no deserving person is left out. He explained that eligible individuals may visit the office, apply through their local fair-price shop, or submit an online request to relinquish benefits voluntarily.
Shri Godara also examined the backlog of pending NFSA applications dating from 2022 to 2025 on the Food Security Portal, and instructed officials to resolve them promptly and with quality. Reviewing the current status of Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC for newly added beneficiaries, he ordered that these tasks be prioritized during the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Sambal Fortnight.
Emphasizing transparency at fair-price shops, he urged regular stock audits and strengthening of distribution systems. He also reminded officials that the Food Security Scheme encompasses four benefits:
- 5 kg of wheat per person under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana
- 12 LPG cylinders per family at ₹450 each annually under the Chief Minister’s Cooking Gas Subsidy Scheme
- Free medical care under the Chief Minister’s Ayushman Arogya Yojana
- Accidental death insurance of ₹5 lakh under the Accident Insurance Scheme
District Collector Dr. Artiika Shukla assured the Minister that all directives would be implemented in a timely manner. During the meeting, District Logistics Officer Shri Vinod Juneja presented detailed progress—via PPT—on the “Give Up” campaign, NFSA additions, Aadhaar seeding, and e-KYC.
Also present were Ramgarh MLA Shri Sukhwant Singh, Kathumar MLA Shri Ramesh Khinchi, former MLA Shri Jayram Jatav, as well as enforcement officers and inspectors from the department.
