A New Track of Development in Naxal-Affected Areas: Rail Survey in Final Stage

Kotagudem–Kirandul Rail Line Gains Momentum with LiDAR Technology; Sukma, Dantewada, and Bijapur to Get Rail Connectivity

Raipur : Development is gaining speed in one of the most challenging regions of the country — the Bastar division. The Final Location Survey (FLS) for the proposed 160.33 km-long Kotagudem (Telangana) to Kirandul (Chhattisgarh) railway line has entered its final stage following approval from the Central Government.

Out of the total proposed stretch, 138.51 km will pass through Naxal-affected districts of Sukma, Dantewada, and Bijapur in Chhattisgarh — areas that have long remained disconnected from the railway network. This ambitious project is expected to not only improve transportation and mobility but also bring about transformational socio-economic change in these underserved districts.

The survey is being conducted using cutting-edge LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology, ensuring high precision and minimal environmental disturbance. The project is being specially monitored by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and is regarded as critical from both internal security and regional development perspectives.

The Indian Railways has expressed special appreciation for the Chhattisgarh Government and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, whose guidance and coordination have significantly expedited the survey process.

Once completed, this railway line is expected to become a symbol of security, inclusion, and prosperity for the Bastar region.
