Ensure All Possible Efforts to Prevent Road Accidents: District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni – District Traffic Management Committee Meeting
Jaipur : A meeting of the District Traffic Management Committee was held on Thursday at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni. Addressing the officials, Dr. Soni emphasized the need for strict adherence to road safety protocols and directed the preparation of an effective action plan to address traffic congestion in Jaipur.
The District Collector instructed officials to take strict action against those violating traffic rules. He directed the installation of speed limit signage boards on national and state highways in both urban and rural areas of Jaipur, in accordance with the new notifications issued by the Government of India. He also ordered the identification and rectification of black spots on highways as per safety protocols, enforcement of traffic rules throughout the district, and action against unauthorized parking and violations like the absence of reflective tapes on highways.
Officials from the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and Rajasthan State Road Development Corporation (RSRDC) were directed to submit compliance reports on the points raised in the previous meeting.
During the meeting, Dr. Soni also directed National Highways Authority officials to close median cuts on highways and expedite the high-quality construction of flyovers. He emphasized the creation of an effective strategy to curb road accidents and called for comprehensive arrangements at accident-prone locations. He instructed that outdated road signs be replaced with new ones on national and state highways to help reduce accident rates.
Additional points discussed in the meeting included:
- Implementing GPS tracking for vehicles carrying flammable substances
- Taking strict action against route violators
- Catching intoxicated drivers at toll plazas
- Attaching reflective bands to stray cattle to prevent night accidents
- Enhancing all-round road safety measures
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Shaheen C., Additional District Collector Mukesh Kumar Moond, and senior officials from the Police Department, Traffic Police, Jaipur Development Authority, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the Medical and Health Department, Transport Department, Public Works Department, and other related departments.
