Jabalpur to Emerge as a New Tourism Hub as Announced by CM Dr. Yadav: Minister Shri Singh
Forest Safari – Zoo cum Rescue Centre and Thakurtal Tourism Hub to be Named After Veerangana Rani Durgavati
Bhopal : In line with the announcement made by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the culturally and historically rich city of Jabalpur is set to gain a new identity in the field of tourism. To elevate tourism to new heights, the Thakurtal area, located in the Madan Mahal hills, is being developed as a prominent tourism hub. This ambitious project includes the development of a Forest Safari – Zoo cum Rescue Centre and the comprehensive revitalization of the Sangram Sagar Lake.
Public Works Minister Shri Rakesh Singh, in consultation with Divisional Forest Officer Shri Rishi Mishra and Consultant Shri Dubey, held detailed discussions to finalise the project framework. He stated that the project would be further dignified by being named after Veerangana Rani Durgavati, as announced by CM Dr. Yadav—a decision that will strengthen Jabalpur’s historical, cultural, and emotional significance. Minister Shri Singh also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for this visionary step.
The tourism project will span approximately 85 to 100 hectares, offering visitors an integrated experience of natural wildlife and modern technology. Planned features include a Robotic Interpretation Centre, Butterfly Park, and Long Carnival with majestic wildlife such as yellow tigers, white tigers, panthers, lions, and bears. Additionally, a Reptile House will house crocodiles and snakes, with designated areas for exotic and native birds. An exclusive exotic park for zebras and giraffes, a Water Interpretation Centre, and species-wise interpretation centres are among the many innovative highlights of the project.
To enhance the adventure experience, the entire region from Sangram Sagar Lake to Thakurtal will be connected through trekking trails, ziplining, and boating, transforming it into a complete eco-tourism and adventure destination. Forest bathing zones and scenic viewpoints will also be developed in the Thakurtal area for nature enthusiasts.
Minister Shri Singh informed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared within the next three months, after which development work will commence. The project is expected to not only bring global recognition to Jabalpur in the tourism sector but also become a milestone in creating local employment, promoting environmental conservation, and preserving cultural heritage.
