Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin Inaugurates ₹25.15 Crore Veterinary Infrastructure, Hands Over Appointment Orders to 208 Heirs of Deceased Employees
Chennai : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated veterinary infrastructure facilities worth ₹25.15 crore and distributed appointment orders to 208 individuals under compassionate grounds in a significant push for rural development and livestock welfare.
The event, held at the Secretariat in Chennai, was organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry. CM Stalin inaugurated several new veterinary buildings across the state, including:
- A Canine Surveillance Division
- A Veterinary Dispensary
- 12 Veterinary Medical Sub-Centers
- 2 Modern Livestock Markets
- An Expanded Dog Breeding Facility
These new infrastructure facilities aim to enhance the quality of veterinary services in Tamil Nadu, especially in rural and tribal areas, by ensuring timely diagnosis, treatment, and health monitoring of livestock and pets.
Details of the Inaugurated Veterinary Facilities
Among the notable infrastructure inaugurated were:
- Canine Surveillance Division in Thengapattinam, Kanniyakumari District – ₹1.15 crore
- Veterinary Dispensary Buildings in multiple districts including:
- Mayiladuthurai (Madhanam village – ₹49.50 lakh)
- Tiruvannamalai (Kadagaram – ₹54 lakh)
- Kallakurichi (Thiruppayar Thakka – ₹54 lakh)
- Dharmapuri (Pennagaram – ₹59 lakh)
- Tirunelveli (Maruthamputhur and Pappankulam – ₹1.18 crore)
- Tenkasi (Panchapazham and Vasuganallur – ₹1.18 crore)
- Pudukkottai (Pillai Thanneerpandhal – ₹59 lakh)
- Virudhunagar (Srivilliputhur and Chempakakatti – ₹1.18 crore)
- Ramanathapuram (Kavalur – ₹59 lakh)
- Veterinary Hospital in Tiruppur (Kangeyam – ₹90 lakh)
- Modern Livestock Markets:
- Nilgiris – ₹2.25 crore
- Chengalpattu – ₹8.70 lakh
- Expanded Dog Breeding Unit in Sathanur, Chennai – ₹5.95 crore
These facilities will significantly improve access to animal healthcare, provide support for dairy and meat production, and uplift rural livelihoods dependent on livestock.
Compassionate Appointment Orders Distributed
In a humane gesture, the Chief Minister also distributed appointment orders to 208 family members of deceased government employees who served in the Animal Husbandry Department. These appointments include posts such as:
- Veterinary Assistant
- Vehicle Driver
- Sanitation Worker
These individuals received jobs under compassionate appointment rules, which provide employment to eligible family members of deceased employees to ensure financial stability.
Government’s Vision for Livestock Welfare
Recognizing the importance of livestock in the rural economy, the Government of Tamil Nadu is undertaking a massive expansion of veterinary services. This includes the construction of:
- Multi-purpose Veterinary Hospitals
- Disease Surveillance and Diagnostic Centers
- Cold Storage and Animal Feed Facilities
- Canine Monitoring Units
- Animal Disease Intelligence Offices
These projects aim to provide modern, scientific, and accessible healthcare for animals across the state.
