PM Awas Yojana: Spacious and Modern Homes Being Built in Surajpur
Bank Loan Facility Extended to Beneficiaries Through District Administration’s Initiative
Raipur : Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), beneficiaries in Surajpur district are being encouraged to build larger and more comfortable homes by increasing their income. Taking the initiative, the Surajpur district administration has facilitated bank loans for beneficiaries in addition to the standard financial support provided under the scheme. To ensure easy repayment of bank installments, beneficiaries are being linked with income-generating activities through the Bihan programme. As part of this initiative, 149 beneficiaries have received bank loans amounting to ₹69.38 lakh. This effort is already showing positive results on the ground, with housing construction picking up pace.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Meena, a member of the ASHA Women’s Self-Help Group, shared her experience, saying that thanks to this innovative initiative by the district administration, her dream of a bigger and better pucca house is becoming a reality. In addition to the PMAY grant, she has received a ₹60,000 loan through the Community Investment Fund and bank linkage. Along with her personal savings, this loan is enabling her to build a well-equipped and spacious home. Her family is delighted with the improved housing, and she expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.
District officials noted that some beneficiaries had used part of their PMAY funds for urgent family needs, which had created financial challenges in completing home construction. Keeping their circumstances in mind, the administration has connected such beneficiaries to the Bihan scheme to support their financial stability.
Officials also shared specific examples of loan assistance provided:
- Pushpa from Kedarpur received ₹1 lakh
- Meena Porte from Janardanpur received ₹60,000
- Leelawati from Narola Gram Panchayat received ₹35,000
- Lalita from Pahadkarwa received ₹1 lakh
- Basanti from Govindpur received ₹50,000
- Saraswati from Telaimuda Gram Panchayat received ₹30,000
- Parmeshwari from Tomo village received ₹25,000
This approach is helping families achieve quality housing while boosting livelihoods, making the PM Awas Yojana not just a shelter scheme but a means to improve living standards.
