Chief Minister Inaugurates ‘House of Himalayas’ Outlet in New Delhi

A New Platform to Showcase Uttarakhand’s Traditional Heritage and Organic Products in the National Capital

Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the ‘House of Himalayas’ outlet at the Uttarakhand Sadan complex in New Delhi. This outlet serves as a significant platform to present the traditional heritage and organic products of Uttarakhand in an organized manner to the national capital. Through this initiative, not only will the state’s rich folk culture be showcased, but local products will also find new markets.

The Chief Minister stated that this initiative reflects the state’s visionary approach to provide global recognition to naturally produced and handcrafted goods from the hilly regions. It will strengthen the rural economy and offer new opportunities to local artisans and craftsmen.

In line with promoting the sale of local products, especially during the Char Dham Yatra, the state government has set up over 13 attractive floor-standing units and retail carts at key pilgrimage and tourist destinations such as Naini Saini Airport, Pantnagar Airport, Dehradun Helipad, GMVN guest houses in Shri Kedarnath, Badrinath, Harsil, Guptkashi, Kaudiyala, Mussoorie, Parmarth Niketan (Rishikesh), Snow Crest (Badrinath), ATI (Nainital), and Centrio Mall. These retail carts are becoming popular attractions for pilgrims and tourists.

Additionally, the installation of similar retail carts is underway at prestigious establishments such as Marriott Mussoorie, Taj Dehradun, FRI, LBSNAA, and Delhi Haat in the national capital. This initiative is helping local products gain both national and international recognition, while also powerfully representing Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage and artisanal skills.

Secretary of Rural Development, Mrs. Radhika Jha, shared that the ‘House of Himalayas’ brand has quickly established a niche for itself through quality. Its products are available not only through its own platform but also on major e-commerce sites like Amazon and Blinkit. The brand is also making inroads into leading hotel chains.

To promote Uttarakhand’s cultural and traditional identity and connect premium tourists with local products, strategic partnerships have been formed with esteemed hotels such as Taj (Rishikesh, Ramnagar), Hyatt Centric, Hyatt Regency (Dehradun), Marriott (Ramnagar), Westin (Narendranagar), and the Jaypee Group (Mussoorie). Under this initiative, ‘House of Himalayas’ retail carts have been set up in several major hotels across the state, giving tourists direct access to Uttarakhand’s distinctive handmade and organic products.

This effort not only promotes economic empowerment for local producers and artisans but also marks a significant step towards sustainable tourism and a self-reliant Uttarakhand.

The concept of the ‘House of Himalayas’ brand was first introduced by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during the Global Investors Summit 2023. Under this brand, Uttarakhand’s unique products such as Buransh (rhododendron) juice, wild honey, mountain lentils, traditional spices, handmade textiles, and other organic goods are now being delivered to major cities across India in an organized manner.

Present on the occasion were Secretary of Rural Development Mrs. Radhika Jha and Resident Commissioner of Uttarakhand Shri Ajay Mishra, along with other officials.
