All Departments Must Work in Coordination to Solve Hinjewadi’s Issues: Deputy CM Ajit Pawar

Speed Up Pune Metro Line 3 Work, Says Guardian Minister of Pune District

Pune — In a bid to give further momentum to the Rajiv Gandhi IT Park in Hinjewadi, Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Pune District Ajit Pawar has directed all concerned authorities to work in coordination to resolve local issues at the earliest. He stressed the need to address problems related to waterlogging, sanitation, and traffic congestion by drawing up and implementing an immediate action plan.

Pawar reviewed the problems plaguing the Hinjewadi IT Park and inspected the progress of Pune Metro Line 3 on Saturday. After the visit, he chaired a review meeting at the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) office.

Present at the meeting were MLA Shankar Mandekar, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Yogesh Mhase, Additional Commissioner Deepak Singla, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Pune Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma, PCMC Joint Commissioner Shashikant Mahavarkar, and other senior officials from the police, public works, MIDC, and Zilla Parishad.

Pawar emphasized immediate removal of accumulated garbage, especially in areas surrounding the IT Park. He ordered the eviction of encroachments on natural drains and streams, and demanded they be cleaned and restored. Considering the area’s growing traffic woes, he instructed PMRDA to prepare a plan for a new six-lane road, urging cooperation from the revenue, MIDC, Zilla Parishad, and local communities.

He also directed the Zilla Parishad to remove encroachments near the Man Devi temple stream in Man Gram Panchayat. For the traffic bottleneck at Laxmi Chowk near the Metro car shed, immediate solutions were sought. Plans should be made to develop Laxmi Chowk akin to the Bhakti Shakti location in Pimpri, and the Ring Road land acquisition proposal must be handled on priority. He also asked for a new alternate road near Capgemini.

The Deputy CM expressed concern over waterlogging in Hinjewadi due to blocked drains and rampant encroachment, causing inconvenience to commuters. He ordered strict action against these encroachments. The Tandon Urban Consultant, appointed to study flooding and drainage issues, must submit a report within a month. The Irrigation Department must also provide their findings urgently.

“No matter how heavy the rainfall, water must not accumulate in Hinjewadi,” Pawar asserted, calling for proper planning to ensure this goal.

Expedite Metro Line 3 Construction

Before the meeting, Ajit Pawar visited the Padmabhushan Chowk station of Metro Line 3, inspecting sites like Croma, Hinjewadi, Dollar Company, Kohinoor, and Mother Son. He instructed Tata and Metro officials to complete pending work swiftly and ensure high construction quality.

In conclusion, PMRDA Commissioner Yogesh Mhase made a presentation on the Ring Road project. The meeting was attended by officials from revenue, public works, pollution control, MIDC, police, and PMRDA departments.
