CM Yogi inaugurates Rs 105-crore state-of-the-art Cardiology wing at KGMU

Lucknow : On Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Uttar Pradesh’s first high-tech Orthopaedic Super-Speciality Centre at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), providing a major boost to advanced bone and joint care in Uttar Pradesh. This is the first facility in the state where both children and the elderly can receive comprehensive orthopedic treatment under one roof.

Housed in a seven-storey building, the center offers a wide range of specialized services including orthoplasty, spine surgery, sports medicine, pediatric orthopedics, radiology, and pathology. Equipped with cutting-edge medical technology, the center is poised to become a hub for advanced orthopedic care.

KGMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Sonia Nityanand said the new facility marks a significant milestone under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Developed at a cost of Rs 86 crore, the centre is equipped with 340 beds, including 220 for orthopaedic surgery, 60 for sports medicine, and 60 for pediatric orthopaedics. Among these, 24 beds are designated for the High Dependency Unit (HDU), along with 24 private rooms. The facility also houses eight large operation theaters, two minor OTs, and eight OPD rooms.

HRF-run pharmacy counters within the centre will ensure 24/7 availability of medicines and surgical supplies for patients. The entire treatment journey from consultation and diagnosis to surgery and discharge will take place within the same building, eliminating the need for patients to navigate multiple departments.

Specialist doctors will be available for both sports injuries and pediatric orthopedic conditions, ensuring focused and expert care. The center is expected to benefit not only residents of Lucknow but patients from across the state, offering world-class services close to home.

In addition to patient care, the center will also play a key role in medical education and training. A dedicated training unit has been established to keep doctors and paramedical staff updated on the latest medical technologies and techniques. The initiative reflects the Yogi government’s commitment to transforming healthcare infrastructure and delivering modern, accessible, and holistic medical services to the people of Uttar Pradesh.
