A three-time Wimbledon semifinalist, the Belarusian handled Ostapenko’s explosive shot-making with remarkable composure. Mixing powerful winners with deft touch and intelligent court coverage, Sabalenka neutralised the Latvian’s attacking game and capitalised on key opportunities in both sets to seal the win.

The victory sends Sabalenka into a blockbuster fourth-round encounter against former World No. 1 Naomi Osaka, who continued her impressive Wimbledon campaign with a commanding victory of her own.

Osaka, seeded 14th, defeated Australia’s Daria Kasatkina 6-1, 6-3 in just 65 minutes to reach the fourth round at the All England Club for the first time in her career. The Japanese star’s dominant performance completed a significant milestone, as she has now reached the second week at all four Grand Slam tournaments.

The four-time Grand Slam champion has advanced to the fourth round or better three times at the Australian Open, where she won two titles, once at Roland Garros, once at Wimbledon and four times at the US Open, including two championship victories. She becomes the 31st active player to achieve the feat of reaching the last 16 at every major.
