Bhopal : On the first Monday of the holy month of Sawan, Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar embarked on his grand city tour in Ujjain in the divine form of Manmahesh. The procession began with the traditional Shodashopachara worship and aarti performed at the Sabha Mandap within the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple complex.

In accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, tribal cultural troupes participated in the procession with captivating performances ahead of the palki, adding a vibrant folk dimension to the sacred event. Vedic chants echoed as the first Sawan-Bhado procession of Shri Mahakal was welcomed with deep devotion. More than 5 lakh devotees participated in the procession.

Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat, Panchayat, Rural Development and Labour Minister Shri Prahlad Patel, Revenue Minister Shri Karan Singh Verma, Forest & Environment Minister Shri Dilip Ahirwar and Ujjain In-charge Minister Shri Gautam Tetwal performed worship and aarti. Other dignitaries present included MLAs Shri Satish Malviya, Shri Mahesh Parmar and Shri Jitendra Pandya, Municipal Corporation Chairperson Smt. Kalavati Yadav, Divisional Commissioner Shri Sanjay Gupta and several senior officials offered prayers to Lord Shri Manmahesh.

Seated in a beautifully decorated palki, Avantikanath Lord ShriMahakal ventured out among his people to bless them and observe the city. As the palki reached the temple’s main gate, an armed police contingent offered a ceremonial Guard of Honour to Lord ShriManmahesh.

Thousands of devotees lined both sides of the route to catch a glimpse of the deity. After the Guard of Honour, the procession moved through Gudri Chauraha, Bakshi Bazaar, Kaharwadi, and arrived at Ramghat on the banks of the sacred Kshipra River. Here, special worship and jalabhishek were performed by priest Shri Ashish Guru.

Post rituals at Ramghat, the procession made its return journey via Ramanujkot, Modh Ki Dharamshala, Kartik Chowk, Khati Samaj Mandir, Satyanarayan Mandir, Dhaba Road, Tanki Chauraha, Chhatri Chowk, Gopal Mandir, Patni Bazaar and Gudri Bazaar before arriving back at Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple.

The procession featured mounted guards, police platoons, various devotional groups and tribal dance troupes singing and praising Lord Shiva. Cultural teams from the Department of Culture, Tribal Folk Art and Language Academy (Madhya Pradesh Culture Council) and Triveni Museum, Bhopal, actively participated. Hundreds of women in the bhajan mandalis sang Shiva hymns, while others played damrus and manjeeras with great enthusiasm. A grand flag led the palanquin of Baba ShriMahakal throughout the procession.

Devotees showered flowers along the route, and an overwhelming number of worshippers gathered to witness and celebrate the divine occasion. The entire route was enveloped in spiritual fervor and devotion.

The first procession of ShriMahakal was broadcast live for the first time by the Public Relations Department and on other social media platforms.
