Drug Addiction Not Only Affects Health But Also Tears Apart The Social Fabric: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said, “Drug addiction is a serious social evil that is hollowing out the foundations of youth, families and society. Addiction is the root of destruction, it not only destroys health but also severely damages the social fabric”. Chief Minister stated in a video message on the launch of the state-wide de-addiction campaign, “Nashe Se Doori Hai Jaroori”, which will run from July 16 to 30.

CM Dr. Yadav expressed deep concern over the rising trend of drug use among youth, calling it extremely unfortunate. He Said, “Youth are the future of the nation. The state government is fully committed to protect them from this trap. This campaign aims not only to curb drug use but also to awaken a new social consciousness”. He urged all citizens to actively support the campaign being led by the Madhya Pradesh Police.

Campaign Launched by DGP Shri Makwana

Director General of Police Shri Kailash Makwana formally launched the large-scale public awareness campaign “Nashe Se Doori Hai Jaroori” at the Police Headquarters in Bhopal on Tuesday. He also unveiled the Chief Minister’s video message and the campaign poster.

Special DGP (CID) Shri Pawan Srivastava, ADG (Narcotics) Shri K.P. Venkateshwar, IG (ANO) Dr. Ashish, PSO to DGP Shri Vineet Kapoor, Assistant IG Shri Sanjeev Kumar Kanchan and SO to DGP Shri Malay Jain were present on the occasion.

DGP Shri Makwana stated that inspired by CM Dr. Yadav, this awareness campaign is being carried out by Madhya Pradesh Police to combat drug abuse effectively. He emphasised that drug use is devastating not only for individuals but for entire families and that top political leadership at both the state and national level is seriously concerned and actively working toward a solution. He said, “It is society’s moral responsibility to protect children and youth from the harmful effect of drugs”, our message is clear – A Drug-Free Madhya Pradesh”.

The campaign will witness participation from departments including Higher Education, Rural Development, Social Justice, Sports and Youth Welfare, Technical Education, Health and Family Welfare, Urban Development and Housing, and School Education. NGOs and religious organizations will also be actively involved.

Daily Awareness Activities Across the State

Throughout the campaign, various daily public awareness activities will be conducted, including Radio & FM broadcasts, Display of banners, posters, and hoardings at public places, Distribution of pamphlets, Video messages via digital screens at bus stands and major intersections, Public announcements through PA systems mounted on sanitation vehicles and Social media campaigns using hashtags: #नशे_से_दूरी_है_जरूरी, #SayNoToDrugs, #NashamuktMP.

Each campaign site will feature ‘Selfie Points’ to encourage public participation. Helpline numbers 1933 and 14446, along with the website https://ncbmanas.gov.in, will be widely promoted for narcotics-related complaints and counseling. Promotional materials such as caps, wristbands, badges, posters, and banners will also be distributed.

All schools and college hostels across the state will form “Hostel De-addiction Committees.” Notable organizations including Prajapita Brahma Kumaris, All World Gayatri Pariwar, Art of Living, and Heartfulness will participate actively. Trained Master Volunteers, under the Social Justice and MSME departments, will inspire citizens and students to stay drug-free. Street plays, songs, and musical performances by Kala Pathak teams will be used to spread awareness among the masses.

Global organizations like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous will also contribute to the campaign. Under the “Yuva Sangam” initiative by the Education Department, programs such as “Prahari Club,” “Ojas Club,” and “Umang Module” will educate students on the ill effect of drugs.

The Health Department will provide medical counseling to victims of addiction through the Manhit App. In collaboration with medical and technical colleges, posters, short films, and awareness messages will be shared across educational platforms.
