Preparatory Meeting Held for Special Intensive Revision Program in Kota Division
Awareness is Key to the Program’s Success, Says Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan
Jaipur – Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shri Naveen Mahajan emphasized that awareness and systematic execution are critical to the success of the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign in Rajasthan. He directed that help desks be established in sufficient numbers at all levels—from gram panchayats to district headquarters—and be staffed by well-informed individuals fully acquainted with the campaign’s guidelines.
Shri Mahajan stated that the SIR program aims to ensure the accuracy and transparency of voter lists so that every eligible citizen in the state can exercise their voting rights properly. He was presiding over a meeting at the State Secretariat on Wednesday regarding preparations for the Election Commission of India’s upcoming SIR campaign for photo-based electoral rolls and other election-related tasks.
He instructed that the necessary human resources such as Booth Level Officers (BLOs), information assistants, and supervisors be appointed in a timely manner and given special training. Volunteers should also be selected and trained promptly. To monitor the quality and effectiveness of the campaign, special inspection teams should be formed to conduct random checks, ensuring no eligible voter is left out.
The CEO further directed that booth-level agents be appointed quickly in coordination with all political parties. He also emphasized that the rationalization of polling stations should be done considering factors like voter population, distance, accessibility, convenience, and basic amenities.
Shri Mahajan stressed the need to utilize Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities extensively to communicate the SIR campaign’s objectives and procedures clearly and effectively to the general public.
The meeting was attended via video conferencing by the Divisional Commissioner of Kota Division, District Election Officers, and subordinate Electoral Registration Officers.
