US – Transportation Security Administration’s long time liquid limit’s to be called off
The United States long time Transportation Security Administration’s liquid limit rule, regulating liquids, aerosols and gels, by the “3-1-1 rule, wherein passengers are limited to carry each container of 3.4 ounces/100 millimetres that fit in one quart-sized resealable bag for carry-ons, are set to be withdrawn. This was stated by Kristi Noem, Homeland Security Secretary, on Wednesday 16th. July, 2025.
Noem shared that she wants to get rid of the rule to streamline the airport security process, envisioning a future where each passenger will take only 60 seconds to get to their gate. To accomplish this, Noem said she is looking to improve the scanning technology used by airports. “It’s not certainly anything we’ll be announcing in the next week or two, but we’re working to see what we can do to make the traveling experience much better and more hospitable for individuals, but also still keep safety standards”.
The abandonment of the Transportation Security Administration’s liquid limit rule, being in force on the heels of the agency lifting its “shoes off” rule, which was implemented in 2006 following the 2001 attempted “shoe bomber” attack.
