‘Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund Cell’ – A Lifeline for Needy Patients!

With a commitment to prioritize public health, the Maharashtra government has been implementing various schemes and initiatives under the mission of a “Healthy Maharashtra.” The government aims to ensure that people from all sections of society benefit from these efforts. However, many economically weaker patients often struggle to afford advanced treatments. To address this, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took the initiative to launch the ‘Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund’, a crucial step towards inclusive healthcare.

₹128 Crore Aid for 14,000+ Patients

To ensure access to modern treatments available in private hospitals for patients suffering from complex diseases, the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund Cell was established under CM Fadnavis’ leadership. This fund offers financial support for heart disease, liver ailments, organ transplants, childhood illnesses, and cancer treatments. From January to June 2025, the cell approved 14,651 proposals, disbursing ₹128.66 crore, the highest ever.

Notably, 2,709 patients with brain-related disorders received ₹22.26 crore in aid. Thanks to this financial support, thousands of children, women, and the elderly are recovering from serious ailments and leading healthier lives. For many from underprivileged backgrounds, the fund is a beacon of hope.

Transparent & Fully Online Process

Numerous applications reach the Chief Minister’s Office for aid under this fund. Each application is carefully verified and processed promptly. A special executive committee—comprising hospital superintendents, administrative officers, medical experts, and cell coordinators—oversees the fund’s operation.

A 24×7 toll-free helpline (1800 123 2211) is active for patient support. From application to disbursal, the entire process is online and transparent.

Maharashtra – The Only State with FCRA Approval

Many Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) wish to donate to medical causes in Maharashtra, but legal hurdles often blocked such contributions. Maharashtra resolved this by obtaining the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) certificate, allowing the fund to receive foreign donations. This makes Maharashtra the only state in India with this approval, opening doors for international aid and helping save more lives.

Assistance Cells in Every District

To make support accessible locally, CM Fadnavis has mandated the establishment of Medical Assistance Cells in all District Collector Offices. This ensures that patients receive timely help without having to travel far, saving both time and additional expenses. A dedicated online system for district-level applications has also been developed.

Financial Aid for 20 Critical Illnesses

Support is available for treatments such as cochlear implants, organ transplants (heart, liver, kidney, lungs, bone marrow, joints), hip and knee replacements, cancer surgeries, accident injuries, brain disorders, dialysis, burn injuries, and more—including conditions affecting infants and children.
