Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar Set Exemplary Standards in Governance, Justice, and Public Welfare – CM Vishnu Deo Sai
Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that Punyashlok Lokmata Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar dedicated her entire life to the welfare of society, and her legacy continues to inspire generations. “She not only ruled Indore but was also a just, spiritual, and impartial administrator. Her work in renovating and rebuilding temples across the country remains a shining example of devotion and service,” he stated while addressing a theatrical presentation based on her life, held at the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur. The event was organised by Vishva Mangalya Sabha.
The Chief Minister added that the nation is celebrating the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar with various commemorative programs being held across the country under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Referring to the theatrical production, CM Sai remarked, “This performance is a powerful medium to bring her remarkable life and contributions to the people, especially to the younger generation. Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar is a luminous symbol of our glorious history whose life exemplifies the ideal of Ram Rajya (just rule).” He noted that she led the Holkar dynasty for three decades, establishing exemplary systems of governance, justice, and public welfare.
He highlighted her spiritual and national contributions, stating, “From Kanchipuram in the south, Badrinath in the north, Puri in the east, to Dwarka in the west—her works left a deep cultural imprint. Although she was the queen of Indore, her service knew no geographical boundaries. She built temples, established dharamshalas (rest houses), and upheld the spirit of Sanatan Dharma across India.”
CM Sai especially praised her reconstruction of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple—a monumental act of cultural and religious revival. “After the temple’s destruction by Aurangzeb, rebuilding it became a goal for many, including Mata Jijabai and Peshwa Madhavrao. It was Ahilyabai Holkar who ultimately fulfilled this dream, restoring hope and reverence among millions of Hindus.”
He recalled that she would have Ganga Jal brought from Haridwar to be offered in the temples of Kanchipuram, and she also undertook the construction of rest houses in Puri and temples in Dwarka. Much like Adi Shankaracharya, who united India spiritually through the Char Dham, Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar played a pivotal role in strengthening India’s cultural fabric.
The event was also addressed by Jagdalpur MLA Shri Kiran Dev Sai, with the introductory address delivered by Smt. Nikita Tai of Vishva Mangalya Sabha.
The program was attended by Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Cabinet Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, BJP State President and MLA Shri Kiran Dev Sai, Shri Ajay Jamwal, Shri Pawan Sai, along with many MLAs, MPs, heads of commissions and corporations, public representatives, and distinguished citizens.
