Yogi govt prioritizes consumer convenience with new power policy decision

Lucknow : The Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh has once again demonstrated its commitment to public convenience by easing service procedures for electricity consumers. In a major relief to crores of power consumers across the state, the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has issued clear directives to eliminate the demand for unnecessary documents while addressing electricity-related service requests.

As per the new guidelines, consumers will no longer need to furnish extra paperwork for services or complaint resolutions. The only exception is the Change of Title (Name Transfer) process, which will continue to require formal documentation. All other consumer requests will now be processed based solely on departmental records.

This important decision was taken during a review meeting of the corporation, attended via video conferencing by the Chief Engineer, Directors, Managing Director, and other senior officials. The policy change was hailed as necessary and timely for the benefit of consumers.

Chairman Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal said during the meeting that consumers often face trouble when they visit electricity offices with complaints, as they are asked to produce old documents. When these papers are not immediately available, people have to make repeated visits. He directed that this practice should now stop, and the department should resolve issues using its own records.

He also emphasized that it is the Corporation’s moral responsibility to solve consumer problems with minimum effort from their side. For this, he instructed officials to regularly monitor complaints received on the 1912 consumer helpline so that no case remains pending. This decision is part of the state government’s policy focused on ensuring transparency, simplicity, and accountability in public services.

Bill correction camps extended till July 22 for power consumers in UP

To further assist electricity consumers in Uttar Pradesh, the ongoing mega bill correction camps will now continue on July 21 and 22 as well. Earlier, the camps were scheduled to conclude on Saturday, but seeing the active participation of consumers, UPPCL Chairman Dr. Ashish Goyal decided to extend the facility for two more days — Monday and Tuesday.

These camps are addressing issues related to new connections, load enhancement, faulty meters, bill corrections, category changes, bill payments, and other electricity-related grievances. Consumers can visit the camps to get their complaints resolved on the spot.

Dr. Ashish Goyal also urged all electricity consumers in the state to take advantage of these bill correction camps to rectify any errors in their bills and clear outstanding dues.
