CM Dhami Sets ₹100 Crore Turnover Target for ‘House of Himalayas’ by 2030, Pushes for Smart Villages and Rural Entrepreneurship

Dehradun : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami has set an ambitious target of achieving a ₹100 crore turnover for the state’s umbrella brand ‘House of Himalayas’ by the year 2030. He has also directed officials to ensure marketing and promotion of its products through Unity Malls across the country.

Chairing a review meeting at the Secretariat on various game-changer schemes under the Rural Development Department — including the Mukhyamantri Udyamshala Yojana, Growth Centre Scheme, House of Himalayas, and the Centre of Excellence initiative — CM Dhami laid special emphasis on boosting rural entrepreneurship and reversing migration from hill areas.

He instructed that one Smart Village be developed in each development block, equipped with basic infrastructure and employment opportunities for every household. The Chief Minister emphasized that such holistic development is key to strengthening the rural economy.

Highlighting the need to enhance livelihoods in rural areas, CM Dhami stressed the importance of promoting reverse migration by providing every possible support to returnees. He called for the reinforcement of the ‘doorstep delivery system’ to improve scheme implementation efficiency.

Focusing on expanding the market for local products at national and international levels, CM Dhami called for a robust marketing strategy for the House of Himalayas brand, ensuring strict quality standards. He also directed that a business-oriented approach be adopted to improve product quality at growth centres and align them with skill development initiatives to boost income opportunities for locals.

To further support women entrepreneurs in rural areas, CM Dhami instructed officials to make adequate arrangements under the Centre of Excellence Scheme for training, resources, financial assistance, and market access.

During the meeting, Secretary of Rural Development, Ms. Radhika Jha, made a presentation on the department’s game-changing programs. She informed that 1.65 lakh women in the state have already become ‘Lakhpati Didis’, and the goal is to add another one lakh women to this list within the next three years.

Under the Mukhyamantri Udyamshala Yojana, 15,000 rural enterprises will be supported over the next three years. The House of Himalayas initiative is already working to onboard over 150 local products in a phased manner.

The meeting was attended by Rural Development Minister Shri Ganesh Joshi, Vice Chairman of Infrastructure Monitoring Council Shri Vishwas Dabar, Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretaries Shri R.K. Sudhanshu and Shri R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shri Sridhar Babu Adanki, Additional Secretaries Ms. Jharna Kamthan and Ms. Anuradha Pal, and Additional CEO of CPPGG Shri Manoj Pant, among other senior officials.
