CM Dhami Emphasizes Cleanliness and Urban Innovation Across Uttarakhand’s Cities
Dehradun : Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed that special attention be paid to cleanliness across all urban areas of Uttarakhand. Chairing a review meeting on the Urban Development Department’s game-changer schemes at the Secretariat on Monday, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of public awareness and citizen participation in maintaining sanitation.
CM Dhami instructed officials to encourage municipal bodies that perform well in the national cleanliness survey and called for comprehensive improvements in urban civic infrastructure, including street lighting, sewer lines, parking facilities, traffic management, and e-waste disposal.
To improve the financial health of municipalities, CM Dhami emphasized promoting innovative revenue generation practices. He also directed that focus be placed not just on constructing new parks in urban areas, but also on the beautification and maintenance of existing parks.
The Chief Minister urged the department to prioritize implementation of centrally sponsored schemes that offer up to 90% funding support, ensuring their effective rollout across the state.
Urban Development Secretary Shri Nitesh Jha informed that Devbhoomi Rajat Jayanti Parks with modern amenities are being developed across several cities in the state. These parks will feature yoga zones, walking tracks, and open-air gyms, and are slated for completion by November 9, 2026.
Additionally, an initiative to harvest 50 lakh litres of rainwater annually is underway in various municipal areas. A centralized control and management system is also being developed to manage street lights in all 11 municipal corporations of the state.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman of Infrastructure Monitoring Council Shri Vishwas Dabar, Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretaries Shri R.K. Sudhanshu and Shri R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shri Sridhar Babu Adanki, Additional Secretary Shri Gaurav Kumar, and Additional CEO of CPPGG Shri Manoj Pant, among other senior officials.
