Jaipur : Tonk District Collector Mrs. Kalpana Agrawal opened Gate No. 10 of the Bisalpur Dam by pressing a button at 5:00 PM on Thursday, initiating the release of 6,000 cubic feet per second (cusecs) of water. Due to continuous inflow from recent heavy rainfall in the catchment area, the dam reached its full reservoir level of 315.50 RL meters by Thursday afternoon, prompting the release.
The event was attended by Devli-Uniara MLA Rajendra Gurjar, District Head Saroj Bansal, Superintendent of Police Rajesh Meena, Deputy District Head Adesh Kanwar, District President Chandraveer Singh Chauhan, Devli Pradhan, and several other public representatives and officials.
Prior to the water release, all officials performed a ritualistic prayer ceremony. The dam gate was opened digitally using the SCADA system, ensuring a controlled and computerized release process. Speaking on the occasion, Collector Kalpana Agrawal emphasized that the Bisalpur Dam is a lifeline for the people of Jaipur, Ajmer, and Tonk districts, particularly in terms of drinking water supply. She added that the adequate water inflow into Bisalpur and other small, medium, and large dams in the district would ensure sufficient water for drinking and irrigation, leading to better crop production in the region.
The District Collector appealed to the general public not to enter the river’s flow area, warning them to remain cautious during the water release period.
According to Bisalpur Dam’s Superintending Engineer Prahlad Rai Khoiwal, Gate No. 10 has been opened by 1 meter, and approximately 6,000 cusecs of water is being released. He clarified that the water discharge is based on the current inflow levels and that further releases or gate closures will be decided depending on upcoming water inflow.
