Central Government Approves Three Industrial Parks in Assam to Boost Industrial Sector
GUWAHATI: In a significant move to strengthen Assam’s industrial sector, the Central Government has approved the establishment of three industrial parks in Tingkhong, Tamulpur, and Karimganj under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) scheme.
These ambitious projects are part of a broader initiative, which includes 12 visionary projects aimed at expanding the industrial sector in the North East. The Himalayan state of Sikkim also received approval for these projects.
Assam will host three industrial projects, while Nagaland will see the development of five projects, and Sikkim will have four projects.
Project Details:
- Tingkhong Industrial Park: This park will be established at a cost of Rs. 25.1 crore, with the Central Government contributing Rs. 13.50 crore and the state government providing Rs. 11.51 crore.
- Kumarikata Industrial Park, Tamulpur: Development of this park will cost Rs. 21.65 crore, with Rs. 13.50 crore funded by the Central Government and Rs. 8.15 crore from the state government.
- Sephinjuri Project, Karimganj: A total investment of Rs. 18.74 crore will be made, with the Central Government contributing Rs. 13.50 crore and the state government adding Rs. 5.24 crore.
These projects are expected to foster industrial growth in Assam, create employment opportunities, develop the local economy, and uplift marginalized sections of society by providing jobs to support their livelihoods.
Tata Group’s Semiconductor Project in Morigaon:
In another groundbreaking development earlier this month, the land agreement for Tata Group’s semiconductor project in Morigaon district was finalized. The agreement, signed at the Sub-Registrar’s office, grants Tata Group a lease of 517.27 hectares of land for 60 years.
Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt. Ltd. (TSAT) will establish a semiconductor unit in Morigaon, Assam. This facility, built at a cost of Rs. 27,000 crore, will have the capacity to produce 48 million chips per day. It will serve various segments including automotive, electric vehicles, consumer electronics, telecom, and mobile phones.
These developments mark significant strides towards industrial growth and economic development in the region, promising a brighter future for the people of Assam and the North East.
