Appeal made to NMC to commence teaching in 13 new medical colleges.
Lucknow : An appeal has been made to the National Medical Commission (NMC) to commence MBBS courses in 13 new medical colleges in the state for the academic session 2024–25. This appeal has been made under Section 28(5) of the NMC Act, 2019.
In September 2023, applications were submitted to the NMC seeking Letters of Permission (LOP) for the admission of 100 MBBS students for the 2024–25 academic session at new medical colleges across 13 districts in Uttar Pradesh. These districts include Bulandshahr, Auraiya, Sonbhadra, Lalitpur, Chandauli, Sultanpur, Gonda, Lakhimpur Kheri, Kushinagar, Kanpur Dehat, Kaushambi, Bijnor, and Pilibhit.
In this context, the NMC began inspections for the LOP at all the new medical colleges, which concluded on June 24. Following this, on July 4, the NMC issued a Letter of Disapproval, denying permission for the admission of 100 MBBS students in the specified colleges. Consequently, an appeal has been made by the medical colleges to the NMC to initiate the academic session.
