Efforts to Strengthen the Revenue Department through Technology – CM Devendra Fadnavis Two-Day Revenue Conference Concludes
Nagpur, Aug 2025 — The Revenue Department is the backbone of the state’s economic development and is known for providing prompt, transparent, and efficient services. Currently, it is the department offering the highest number of online services to citizens. The recommendations presented by the study groups during the Revenue Conference will serve as guiding frameworks for future policy decisions to make the department even more citizen-centric, expressed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the closing ceremony of the Revenue Conference.
Chief Minister Fadnavis was speaking during a discussion session on the second day of the Revenue Conference held at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Nagpur. On this occasion, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Vikas Kharge, Chief Minister’s Secretary Srikar Prabhu Desai, Settlement Commissioner, Inspector General of Registration, all Divisional Commissioners, District Collectors, and senior officials of the Revenue Department were present.
Given the evolving nature of revenue-related processes, there is a pressing need to implement policy-level changes. The state government is making efforts to make this department more capable and people-friendly through the use of advanced technology. This Revenue Conference was organized to facilitate discussions, deliberations, and evaluations of these strategic aspects, which concluded under the leadership of Chief Minister Fadnavis.
Various committees headed by Divisional Commissioners presented their reports during the conference. These committees highlighted the essential measures required to bring efficiency and streamline the working of the revenue department, ensuring that no citizen is deprived of services and benefits of revenue schemes. Key suggestions were presented through these reports to enhance transparency and provide more services through online platforms. The Chief Minister instructed officials to thoroughly study every aspect to ensure that the report submitted to the government is accurate and flawless.
Brainstorming at the Conference to Provide Direction
Revenue department officials noted that citizens frequently interact with the department for various needs. The policy decisions emerging from this conference will prove beneficial not only at the district headquarters level but also at the sub-divisional and taluka levels.
The conference also witnessed an exchange of innovative ideas, various strategies, and information on new initiatives. Officials expressed confidence that these discussions will lead to the establishment of new working methods in the administration.
