Yogi Govt Launches ₹6,500 Crore Projects to Transform Ayodhya, Mathura, and Varanasi into Investment Hubs
Lucknow : Ayodhya, Mathura, and Varanasi, apart from being major centres of the country’s faith, have also emerged as major investment destinations in the recent years.
Spearheaded by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Ground Breaking Ceremony (GBC 4.0) held in February this year kickstarted several investment projects in these religious sites. Within just five months, projects worth Rs 6,500 crore have already commenced.
It is noteworthy that during GBC 4.0, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated around 11,000 projects worth approximately Rs 50,000 crore for these three religious sites. Within five months, the Yogi government has successfully implemented 277 projects worth Rs 6,578 crore. This accounts for more than 13 per cent of the total inaugurated projects.
Ayodhya, Kashi, and Mathura are seen as the most significant centres of faith for the Hindu community, not just in Uttar Pradesh but across the country. In this context, the state government is making substantial enhancements in tourism and civic amenities. Major development projects are being initiated here, with large domestic and international companies signing MOUs with the Yogi government.
In February, PM Modi inaugurated these projects, and within just five months, projects worth Rs 6,578 crore have materialized across these three sites. The remaining projects are also progressing rapidly and are expected to be completed soon, providing substantial employment opportunities for the youth and reducing migration to other districts or states.
Moreover, special initiatives are underway at these sites, including the establishment of tourist facility centres, wellness centres, and hotels, which will create extensive employment opportunities on a large scale.
In Ayodhya, the city of Lord Rama, the Yogi government has undertaken extensive development. Significant progress has been made in infrastructure, including wide roads, bridges, an airport, and a railway station, both before and after the Pran Pratishtha of the new idol in the Rama Temple on January 22, 2024. These improvements have attracted investors to start their projects in Ayodhya.
In addition, during GBC 4.0, 376 projects worth Rs 13,421 crore were inaugurated, out of which 88 projects worth Rs 993 crore have already been realized. The remaining projects are also expected to commence industrial production soon. The hospitality sector in Ayodhya has shown notable interest in investment, with major names like Abhinandan Lodha House, PKH Ventures Ltd., Pakka Ltd., The Innovators Digital Ads Pvt. Ltd., and Crescendo Interiors participating in the development.
Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, is also significant for the government, attracting lakhs of tourists. During GBC 4.0, PM Modi flagged off 428 projects worth Rs 16,948 crore in Mathura. Within five months, 120 projects worth Rs 3,837 crore have already been realized.
According to data from GBC, the top five projects in Mathura are expected to create over 11,000 jobs. Companies such as Air Liquide North India Pvt. Ltd., The Benison, Keshav Publication Pvt. Ltd., IFP Petro Products, and Avadi Industries Private Limited have partnered with the government to launch major projects.
Similarly, the development of Varanasi, the land of Baba Vishwanath, is also a top priority for the state government. Given that this district is Prime Minister Modi’s parliamentary constituency, its development has become even more significant, prompting several major companies to express their interest in investing here.
During GBC 4.0, 279 projects worth Rs 19,295 crore were launched for Varanasi. In just five months, 69 projects worth Rs 1,748 crore have begun, and the remaining projects are expected to materialize soon, benefiting thousands of people. Companies such as Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL), Roma Builders and Promoters Pvt. Ltd., Ansh Construction Pvt. Ltd., and JS Residency Pvt. Ltd. are actively working on bringing their projects to fruition.
