Chief Minister Meets NHDCL Managing Director Commodore Rajiv Ashok

Aizawl, Aug 2025: The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Lalduhoma, who is currently in New Delhi, held a meeting today with Commodore Rajiv Ashok (Retd.), Managing Director of the National Handloom Development Corporation Limited (NHDCL), at Mizoram House. The meeting centered on exploring strategies to strengthen and modernize Mizoram’s handloom sector.

Key points discussed during the meeting included:

1. Establishing a Yarn Warehouse in Mizoram.
2. Promoting the use of locally produced handloom products in government offices and key establishments across the state.
3. Upgrading to modern electronic Jacquard handlooms to enhance the quality and diversity of handloom products.
4. Providing continuous skill development programs for weavers and facilitating broader exposure at the national level.
5. Engaging NHDCL experts to support the overall growth and modernization of Mizoram’s handloom industry.
6. Exploring possibilities for Mizoram to increase yarn production from mulberry silk.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Pi R. Lalrodingi, OSD to CM, and Pu Lalrinawma Khiangte, PS to CM.
