Agriculture Students Learn Use of Drones in Farming

Seven-Day Skill Training on Drone Technology Concludes at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University

Raipur, Aug 2025 : A seven-day skill training program on “Use of Drones in Agriculture” concluded at the College of Agriculture, Raipur, under Indira Gandhi Agricultural University from July 31 to August 6, 2025.

The program was jointly organized by the University’s Placement Cell, the All India Coordinated Weed Management Project, and New Sky–Kalash Ventures. A total of 70 participants, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students, took part in the training.

For the first three days, trainers from Kalash Ventures provided sessions on drone hardware, applications of drones in agriculture, and business opportunities in the field. On the fourth, fifth, and sixth days, participants learned how to operate drones under the trainers’ supervision. On the final day, a written assessment of the trainees was conducted.

At the closing ceremony, Dr. Girish Chandel of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University distributed certificates to the participants and shared his insights on the effective use of drones in modern agriculture and their role in crop monitoring. He also collected feedback on the training and encouraged participants to spread awareness among other students about business opportunities in this emerging field.

Also present on the occasion were Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Dean of Student Welfare; Dr. Arti Guhe, Dean, College of Agriculture, Raipur; Dr. Vinay Pandey, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering, Raipur; Dr. S.S. Tuteja, Director of Extension Services; along with heads of various departments, Placement Cell officials, and students.

The training was conducted entirely by trainer Mr. Subhashish Patnaik, while Dr. Nitish Tiwari, Dr. Rama Mohan Sahu, and Dr. Shubha Banerjee coordinated the program.
