Visually Impaired Girls, Tribal Students, and Women from Self-Help Groups Tie Rakhi to the Governor

Mumbai, Aug 2025 : On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, visually impaired students, tribal girl students from Thane, Raigad, and Palghar districts, members of women’s self-help groups under the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, and girl students from municipal schools tied rakhis to Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan and performed the traditional ovāḷane ritual. Tribal women from the Vivek Rural Development Centre, Bhalivali, Palghar district, also tied rakhis made from bamboo to the Governor.

Marking the festival, students, sisters, and brothers from various organisations visited the Governor at Raj Bhavan on Thursday (7th) to tie rakhis and perform the ceremonial welcome.

The Governor graciously accepted the rakhis from everyone, inquired about their well-being, and presented them with gifts.

The visiting groups included Mamata Bal Sadan (children’s home) at Kumbharvalan started by Sindhutai Sapkal, girl students from Mumbai Municipal Corporation schools, members of various women’s self-help groups under the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, girl students from the Integrated Tribal Development Project in Shahapur (Thane district) and Pen (Raigad district), visually impaired students from the National Association for the Blind (NAB), and women from the Pratiksha Women’s Self-Help Group.

Members of the Bharat Vikas Parishad, Matunga, as well as sisters and brothers from Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, also tied rakhis to the Governor.
