Tourism Minister Hosts State-Level Storytelling Competition in Mizoram
Aizawl, Aug 2025 – The Tourism Department of Mizoram, after successfully conducting district-level storytelling competitions across the state since June, held the state-level event “Narrating Mizoram: A Tales of Our Land – Storytelling Competition” yesterday at Ignite Studio, Khatla. Tourism Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar presided over the event, which featured 15 participants selected from various district-level contests.
In his address, Minister Hmar expressed gratitude to the participants and emphasised the importance of narrating the unique stories of Mizoram’s culture, heritage, and scenic beauty. He said that the ability to share these stories meaningfully with others can inspire deeper appreciation and foster growth in tourism. The minister noted that such initiatives help sharpen young people’s public speaking skills while also promoting awareness of the state’s rich history and attractions.
Tourism Department Director Pi R. Lalrodingi, in her remarks, thanked all the contestants and organisers. She explained that the competition was organised to encourage participants to share the charm of Mizoram’s most beautiful locations, thereby inspiring more visitors. She highlighted that the success of the programme was due to the active involvement of the district winners and the support of all Deputy Commissioners. She also stressed that improving tourism requires preserving the environment, enhancing scenic beauty, and expanding services for travellers.
Participants represented all districts of the state, including: Grace Lalrinpari and PC Lalruatdika (Aizawl), Zorinmawii Ralte (Lunglei), Zine P. Fachhai (Siaha), K. Lalvenpuii and Vanlallawmkima Gangte (Champhai), Josia Lalruatfela (Kolasib), Lalruattluanga and Lalthanzami Chhangte (Serchhip), Rodinsanga (Mamit), Dr. K. Lalzuimawia (Hnahthial), Deborah Lalnghakmawii and Esther Lalmalsawmi (Saitual), and Pu H. Lalngurliana with R. Lalhlimmawii (Khawzawl).
Serchhip District won first place, receiving a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize of ₹50,000. Saitual District secured second place with ₹30,000, and Khawzawl District came third, earning ₹20,000.
