Divya Rangari from Mahasamund Joins National Basketball Training Camp
Raipur, Aug 2025 : The FIBA Under-16 Asian Women’s Championship 2025 will be held in Malaysia from 14 to 20 September 2025. For this, the Basketball Federation of India has organized a national training camp at the National Sports Centre in Chennai from 10 August to 12 September 2025.
From Chhattisgarh, the only player selected is Divya Rangari from Mahasamund district, daughter of Vinod Rangari, who left for Chennai today to join the camp. Divya had earlier won a gold medal at the Asia Cup SABA Qualifier Championship held in the Maldives.
The Under-16 Asia Cup Qualifier Basketball Championship for the South Asian Zone selection was held in the Maldives from 12 to 15 June 2025. The Indian team performed excellently, winning the gold medal and qualifying for the Asian Championship in Malaysia. Representing Mahasamund, Chhattisgarh, Divya Rangari delivered an outstanding performance. She regularly trains at the Mini Stadium in Mahasamund and has participated in national championships, successfully earning a place on Team India.
Earlier, Divya also won a gold medal while playing for the Chhattisgarh girls’ team at the 48th Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship held in Puducherry in August 2023, where she performed impressively. In Mahasamund district, basketball training is held daily at the local Mini Stadium, where children from nearby rural and urban areas participate. Players from the district have competed in national basketball tournaments and have succeeded in winning medals.
