PM Shri Modi to Perform Bhoomi-Pujan of the Country’s First PM MITRA Park in MP: CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Madhya Pradesh on August 25 to perform Bhoomi-Pujan of the country’s first PM MITRA Park at Badnawar in Dhar district — a major gift for the state’s development. He noted that while other states are still in the initial preparation stages for their PM MITRA Parks, Madhya Pradesh will already be holding the groundbreaking ceremony on August 25. Dr. Yadav said this has been made possible through continuous coordination with the Central Government.
The Chief Minister emphasised that once completed, the PM MITRA Park will give a major boost to the development of the entire Malwa region. The Dhar district area is poised to become the second large industrial hub after Pithampur. The park will benefit cotton-producing farmers in the region and generate around 300,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs. Badnawar will also become part of the Indore Metropolitan City Area, gaining access to metropolitan facilities. Investors and companies setting up industries here will be provided with four-lane roads, rail connectivity, and air links.
CM Dr. Yadav reviewed preparations via video conferencing for the Prime Minister’s visit, the Bhoomi-Pujan and the public meeting with the Indore Commissioner and Dhar Collector on Sunday night. He instructed that special arrangements be made, ensuring the participation of local farmers and smooth transport for attendees from different districts. At the venue, a waterproof dome will be set up, featuring a stage for VVIPs, adequate seating arrangements, drinking water facilities, and well-organised logistics. He emphasised convenient access routes, including alternate roads and necessary repairs.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav called for micro-planning of the entire event, extensive media publicity, and factual dissemination of information to citizens about the employment-based industries and their benefits. He instructed the commissioners of Indore and Ujjain divisions, along with all district collectors, to work in close coordination to ensure the success of the event.
CM Dr. Yadav also urged district collectors to begin setting up training institutes or skill development centres for artisans and weavers across Malwa to meet the future demand for skilled labour. Planning should also commence for housing facilities to accommodate the large labour force incoming. Connectivity from all four directions should be enhanced. The Thandla Road from Badnawar has already been approved by NHAI, which will connect directly to the park area. The upcoming Ujjain Airport will be located just 70 km from the park and will be connected to Indore International Airport, as well as to existing road networks from Ratlam. Coordination with bordering districts is underway for the ceremony.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Mr. J.N. Kansotia, Additional Chief Secretary to CM Mr. Neeraj Mandloi, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Sanjay Kumar Shukla, Director General of Police Mr. Kailash Makwana, Public Relations Commissioner Dr. Sudam Khade and officials from all departments involved in the event.PM MITRA Park – India’s Next Textile Hub
The PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park to be set up in Dhar will be a key step in making India a global textile powerhouse. Spread over more than 2,158 acres with an investment exceeding Rs. 2,000 crore, it aims to become a textile hub through state-of-the-art infrastructure, sustainable development and strategic policy support. Based on the visionary ‘5F’ concept — ‘Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign’ — the park is expected to generate around 300,000 jobs (100,000 direct and 200,000 indirect).
Developed as a greenfield project by the State Authority, it will feature modern trunk infrastructure such as stormwater drainage, water supply, waste management, sewage systems, a 220 KVA substation, SCADA-controlled utilities, well-planned street lighting, and amenities. Support facilities will include a 20 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), housing for workers and women employees, a 10 MVA solar power plant, and 81 plug-and-play units spread over 95,750 sq. m. There will also be two centralized steam boilers and a pipeline network for industrial units.
Current Progress
A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named “PM MITRA Park Madhya Pradesh Limited” has been formed after an MoU between the state government and the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Investment intents worth over Rs. 10,000 crores have been received. MoUs have also been signed with major industrial bodies such as the Indian Cotton Federation, Southern India Mills Association, Tiruppur Exporters Association, and the Textile Merchants Association (Dubai).
Construction work is progressing rapidly — 60% of site leveling and the park’s main gate are complete. Key external works, including a 1.4 km six-lane link road from State Highway-18, a 220 KV power line from Badnawar, and a 20 MLD water supply project from Mahi Dam, are underway. The Indian Green Building Council is being consulted to obtain a “Green Rating” for the park.
Approval For Park
The Board of Directors has appointed the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) as the project implementation agency. With sustained state government efforts, investor-friendly policies, and world-class facilities, the park will be a milestone for India’s textile sector.
