Govind Guru Tribal University, Banswara Holds Sixth Convocation — Students Should Use Education for National and Social Progress: Governor
Jaipur, Aug 2025 – Governor and Chancellor Shri Haribhau Bagde said that convocation does not mark the end of education, but the beginning of a new chapter in life, powered by the skills and knowledge acquired. Congratulating all graduating students and wishing them a bright future, he urged them to use their education for the advancement of the nation and society.
He said Govind Guru Tribal University is expected to play a vital role in promoting higher education in tribal areas, and emphasized increasing the enrollment of tribal children in education so they can secure jobs, start businesses, and overcome poverty. He also stressed the need to strengthen primary, secondary, and higher secondary education.
Addressing the sixth convocation of Govind Guru Tribal University, Banswara, at Mahi Bhawan on Mahi Dam Road in Badvi, the Governor told the degree recipients that they have a duty to take interest in the education system of their home villages. “Do not keep your knowledge to yourself—make an effort to share it with others. Education frees us from all limitations and removes arrogance by granting wisdom. Its true purpose is to develop intellectual capacity and find solutions to problems. The New Education Policy also aims to enhance intellectual abilities,” he said.
Highlighting India’s economic progress, Shri Bagde noted that in 2014 India’s economy ranked 11th in the world, and now it stands at fourth place. He added that 25 crore people have been lifted above the poverty line. “Today, after offering prayers at Maa Tripura Sundari, I wished for the children here to grow in intellectual capacity, for teachers to impart knowledge with an open hand, and for everyone to enjoy good health,” he said. He also remembered historical and folk heroes including Bansia Bhil, Rana Punja, Raja Doongaria, and Kalibai.
During the ceremony, 22 research scholars were awarded PhD degrees, and 34 students received gold medals. On this occasion, the Governor inaugurated the Kautilya Research Building and the Swami Vivekananda Student Welfare Building, and laid the foundation stone for a new faculty building.
The ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Keshav Singh Thakur, who delivered the welcome address and presented the university’s progress report
