Meeting Chaired by Deputy CM Diya Kumari on Strengthening Anganwadi Centres
Jaipur, Aug 2025 – Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Women & Child Development Diya Kumari chaired a meeting at the State Secretariat on Tuesday to review the repair and strengthening of Anganwadi centres. The meeting was attended by Women & Child Development Secretary Mahendra Soni, State Project Director & Commissioner for Samagra Shiksha Anupama Jorwal, Director of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Vasudev Malawat, and officials from the Public Works and Panchayati Raj Departments.
During the meeting, the Deputy CM issued the following directions:
- Based on a survey/assessment conducted by Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SAMSA) in June, repair works for 6,012 Anganwadi centres should be taken up on priority. In the first phase, financial approval has already been issued for the repair of 3,033 centres with an available budget of ₹50 crore.
- The Education Department, using SAMSA’s assessment of model Anganwadi centres, has also been directed to repair 2,365 centres. All repair works must be completed within the next four months.
- To facilitate these works, the Public Works Department (PWD) should depute or assign additional charge of Junior Engineers (JEN) and Assistant Engineers (AEN) to SAMSA (Education Department).
- Immediate deputation of SE/JEN/AEN to the Education Department headquarters was instructed.
- The State Head of Vedanta Foundation (Nand Ghar) was directed to take action to repair 10,497 Anganwadi centres, as reported by Deputy Director offices in July, and to develop them as ‘Nand Ghars’.
- The Deputy CM instructed that letters be sent to MLAs requesting them to sanction funds from their MLA Local Area Development Fund for repairs and provision of other facilities in Anganwadi centres.
- District Collectors were directed to write similar letters to mobilise funds from CSR, DMFT, and SDRF sources for repairing or reconstructing 4,141 dilapidated Anganwadi buildings, and to submit proposals for separate budget allocation.
- A representative from HUDCO proposed to undertake the repair or construction of certain Anganwadi buildings under CSR funding, on which further action was ordered.
