Jaipur, Aug 2025 – Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Forest, Environment & Climate Change, and Science & Technology, Shri Sanjay Sharma, emphasised that community participation is essential to maintain and protect ecological balance. He said efforts should be made to connect villagers with nearby forests, as this would foster a sense of belonging towards nature and ensure better forest protection.

Shri Sharma made these remarks while addressing a departmental review meeting at the District Council Auditorium during his visit to Udaipur district. Udaipur City MLA Shri Tarachand Jain, Udaipur Rural MLA Shri Phoolsingh Meena, and District Collector Shri Namit Mehta welcomed the minister.

The Forest Minister reviewed various activities of the Rajasthan Pollution Control Board and took updates on the progress of the proposed Digital Planetarium in Udaipur, announced in the Chief Minister’s budget, under the Science & Technology Department.

Selfie & Certificate for Plantation
Shri Sharma informed that to promote tree plantation and protection, the Hariyalo Rajasthan portal now offers a “Selfie and Certificate” feature. Citizens can plant trees, upload their selfies on the portal, and receive a digital certificate. He directed officials to widely publicise this feature to encourage greater public participation.

Monitoring & Accountability

Speed Up Leopard Safari Work
On reviewing the Amarakh Mahadev Leopard Safari project announced in the budget, the minister expressed dissatisfaction over slow progress and directed that the work be expedited.
