Dilip Ghosh Accuses TMC of Creating Fake Voters, Alleges Bangladeshi Infiltration in Bengal

Kolkata: Senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh on Wednesday accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal of creating fake voters and enabling Bangladeshi nationals to obtain Indian identity documents using forged papers.

Speaking to reporters, Ghosh alleged that thousands of Bangladeshi workers are spread across the country, many of whom have managed to secure Indian voter IDs and other identification illegally. “Whether they are genuinely Bengali-speaking Indians or Bangladeshis remains to be seen,” he said.

The remarks came amid speculation over the possible implementation of a Special Investigation Report (SIR) in West Bengal, following its rollout in Bihar. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has reportedly directed action against several West Bengal Civil Services officers over alleged voter list irregularities. However, the state government has not complied, instead taking a different course of action.

As a result, West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant has been summoned to Delhi. He left for the capital on Wednesday morning in response to the summons.

Ghosh alleged that irregularities in the state’s voter lists were carried out by local officials acting under the government’s instructions. “These employees work at the behest of the TMC government, and their patron is the Chief Secretary. Therefore, he will have to answer all questions,” Ghosh said, warning that the matter could eventually reach Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Addressing allegations of harassment against migrant Bengalis, Ghosh clarified that the identity of such migrants needed verification. “First, we must know whether they are truly Indian Bengalis or Bangladeshis. There are lakhs of workers in India who came from Bangladesh and are working here with fake identity cards,” he said.

He claimed that the problem was most severe in West Bengal, accusing the TMC government of being directly responsible. “They are the ones creating and spreading fake voters,” Ghosh alleged, linking the issue to broader concerns about electoral fraud and national security.
