Request to CM Rekha Gupta, do not shut down this scheme which saves people’s lives: Saurabh Bhardwaj
New Delhi, Aug 2025 : Addressing a press conference held at the party headquarters, Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj said that often in court cases it has been seen, and doctors also say this, that if on the road some person has an accident and that person gets treatment within one hour of the accident, then the hope of saving that person’s life increases a lot. He said that was the reason that earlier, during the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, a scheme named Delhi Farishtey was started. Under this, if any person had an accident on Delhi’s roads, then he/she would be admitted to any nearby private hospital and treated, and all the expenses of the treatment were paid by the Delhi government. This scheme also saved the lives of hundreds of people. But it is a matter of great shame that at present, the BJP government established in Delhi has closed this scheme which saved people’s lives.
Referring to an incident two days ago on Tuesday, lawyer Ashok Agarwal wrote a letter to the Delhi government, an example of which Saurabh Bhardwaj mentioned. He said that in his letter, referring to a 26-year-old youth named Aman Jha, it was written that the day before yesterday, on Delhi’s road, he had an accident. After this, he was taken to a nearby hospital, Spinal Injury Center, where he was not treated. After that, Aman Jha was taken to Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj; there also he was not treated. Subsequently, he was taken to Prima Super Speciality Hospital, and there too he did not get treatment. Finally, he was taken to the government hospital, Safdarjung, where he died. Saurabh Bhardwaj said that Aman Jha did not get treatment on time and he died. That was the reason that earlier, during the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, the Delhi Farishtey scheme was started. Under this, if any person admitted an accident victim on the road to any nearby hospital, then the entire cost of his/her treatment was borne by the Delhi government and that person’s life could be saved. He said that from this scheme, made by the earlier Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, hundreds of people’s lives were saved.
Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the BJP-ruled government of Delhi has today closed this scheme. He said that BJP must understand that when a person travels on the road, the accident does not know whether the person walking on the road is a BJP member or from a BJP leader’s family. An accident can happen to anyone, and this Farishtey scheme was such a scheme that had been saving the lives of such accident victims. Saurabh Bhardwaj said that when the Aam Aadmi Party government was in Delhi, even then BJP’s favorite Lieutenant Governor Shri Vinay Saxena made full efforts to stop this scheme. The bills of amounts to be paid to private hospitals under this scheme were deliberately stopped, the funds of this scheme were withheld. He said that being the Health Minister of Delhi, I was forced to approach the Supreme Court, and after the Supreme Court’s order, the funds of this scheme were released, and this scheme could once again run smoothly. Now that BJP has formed the government in Delhi, once again the BJP-ruled Delhi government has shut down this scheme. The result of which was that the life of a 26-year-old youth, Aman Jha, was lost due to not getting treatment.
Requesting Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta through the media, Saurabh Bhardwaj said that such schemes are schemes serving humanity. Only and only due to petty politics should such schemes not be closed, so that on Delhi’s roads, due to not getting treatment on time, no other Aman Jha dies.
