On Independence Day, Four Rajasthan Prison Officials Awarded President’s Medal

22 Others Receive Commendation Certificates and Service Insignias

Jaipur, Aug 2025 : Independence Day 2025 marked a proud moment for the Rajasthan Prisons Department as four officials were awarded the President’s Medal by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for their outstanding correctional services.

Director General of Prisons, Mr. Govind Gupta, announced that Mr. Ramakant Sharma, Deputy Superintendent Headquarters (currently Deputy Inspector General, Headquarters), was honoured with the President’s Medal for his exemplary services. Alongside him, three other officers— Mr. Yogesh Teja, Deputy Superintendent (now Superintendent, District Jail Hanumangarh), Mr. Sugar Singh Gurjar, Deputy Jailor, District Jail Jaipur, and Mr. Lokojjwal Singh, Deputy Jailor, District Jail Tonk—were also decorated with the prestigious award.

Notably, Mr. Ramakant Sharma had earlier received the President’s Medal in 2018, making him the second officer in the department to be honoured twice. Previously, in 2006, Mr. Rajendra Singh, Deputy Superintendent, had achieved this distinction.

To mark the occasion, a grand parade and ceremony were held at the Prison Headquarters. Congratulating the medal winners, DG Prisons Mr. Gupta urged other personnel to continue enhancing the department’s reputation through dedicated service.

Additionally, four officers— Mr. Ramsukh Jatolia (Financial Advisor), Mr. Dinesh Meena (Additional Superintendent of Police, Prison Headquarters Jaipur), Mr. Vinod Tailor (Senior Accounts Officer), and Mr. Piyush Kumar Agrawal (Deputy Director, Industries)—were honoured with Commendation Certificates.

For outstanding work, 22 officers and staff were also decorated with Ati Uttam Seva Chinh (Very Distinguished Service Insignia) and Uttam Seva Chinh (Distinguished Service Insignia).

Recipients of the Ati Uttam Seva Chinh included Mr. Lokojjwal Singh, Mr. Amar Chandra Sharma, Mr. Narendra Kumar Baiwa, Mr. Surendra Singh, Mr. Yogendra Singh, and Mr. Narendra Kumar.

The Uttam Seva Chinh was conferred on Mr. Sugar Singh Gurjar, Mr. Kartar Singh, Mr. Ramlal, Mr. Mahendra Yadav, Mr. Ajit Singh, Mr. Shakti Singh, Mr. Prem Singh, Mr. Shankar Singh, Mr. Hariram, Mr. Tej Prakash, Mr. Ramlal Yadav, Mr. Surendra Yadav, Mr. Ramkumar, Mr. Banwari Lal, and Mrs. Meena Kanwar (Lady Warden).

This honour was celebrated not only by the awardees but also as a moment of pride for the entire Rajasthan Prisons Department.
